| For a manufacturer of exotic metallic alloys, we designed a custom tube furnace seal for a wire annealing system that would help contain pressurized furnace gases. The furnace seal worked in tandem with a purge device by stripping the ambient fluid (air) from the incoming product, thereby minimizing the potential for the presence of oxygen in the highly radiative environment of the furnace. The seals limited the escape of inert gas that was introduced by the purge via modular cartridges that were adjusted in real-time to fit the size of the product passing through it. Each assembly contained a hinged seal cartridge in order to provide the operator with the ability to quickly and easily replace the product that was being treated. |
